When they approached us about developing a dedicated range of pop-ups, the idea was to create something that would both match their existing boilie ranges but at the same time offer something completely different than a typical ‘match the hatch’ style of pop up. Thinking of it actually, here at Monkey Climber we hardly ever fish match the hatch style, but always with something that totally stands out. So we had to start looking for something special, but also 100% complementary with the three LB ranges.

That’s where the Scratch The Hatch idea was born. Brewed from our own Secret Stash range of old school flavours and some under the counter stuff in our basement, just like haute cuisine chefs (please don’t take us too seriously, lol) we developed three completely unique pop-up combinations to complement Level Baits’ Krill, Herbs and Nectar boilie ranges. Either to fish with ronnies, chods, hinged stiffs over these baits, or to create the perfect snowman combo. Our designer Eve also gave the original Level Baits logo the full Monkey Climber Scratch The Surface logo style treatment, creating a mega visual identity for this collab.

HERBS

The Herbs range called for something equally special. Rather than simply creating another generic spicy pop-up, we went back to the old-school flavour world and managed to get our hands on a remarkably accurate recreation of Rod Hutchinson’s original Secret Agent - replicated from an old early 2000s bottle from Gio’s collection. We combined this with a very interesting Orange-Tangerine flavour carrying a subtle burn, then finished the blend with a touch of good old indian Spice, an idea the Level Baits boys themselves came up with. The result is a seriously tasty, spicy-slightly citrus combination with plenty of character. Seeing slash smelling is believing.

ONLY 200 TUBS PER FLAVOUR, ALL NUMBERED

All three Scratch the Hatch combinations are being produced as a strict limited edition of just 200 tubs per flavour combination. 170 tubs of each flavour will be sold directly by Level Baits, with the remaining 30 tubs coming to the Monkey Climber webshop for collectors and carp anglers outside Belgium.
