Featured in the 8th British Carp Study Group book!

“The Chairman had a clear idea that the time was right for the 8th BCSG book to be produced. To begin with, various ideas had been discussed, one being a ‘greatest hits’ type reproduction of favourite articles from our in-group magazine The Carp, but this was soon dropped when a chance conversation between myself and Dave Gawthorn generated the idea for a book entirely dedicated to bait. We began by creating a list of inspirations, stories and subject matter experts who we felt were ‘must-have’ and for the first time in BCSG history that has included people outside of the group. We wanted to include retrospective work from our own archives but also borrow from others if there was value. What follows then is a book which provides a detailed view of baits and their application, production and preparation, along with a mix of retrospective pieces covering some of the biggest changes in bait of our era. In the very first BCSG book there was a chapter on the relative merits of brown bread over white – here in the 8th book, we’re covering the original thinking and subsequent explosion of boilies, the revolutionary use of particles, the impact that fishmeals had on carp baits, the research and development going into pellet manufacture, along with pieces on fermentation and enzymes. We have progressed a phenomenal distance in the last few decades. I wonder what the sport will look like forty years from now?”
