As some of you may know my dad is a collector of all sorts of old paperwork - in the past he already found a small piece of 1940s Belgian carp history nobody knew of. This week he found another interesting pic in the 1953 mag Ons Blad. It shows a supposedly 26 kilos weighing common (not sure if that weight is correct but it is a big fish from a time and age we don't know have a lot of proof of big carp) measuring 1 metre and 7 cm near Rennes, France. Na een bewust gekozen staakt het schrijven heb ik in december 2024 toch de pen maar weer opgepakt. Dit keer moest het van een ouwe vismaat. Zijn plotselinge verdwijnen van deze aardkloot en de manier waarop, dwongen mij ertoe. Het heeft veel met me gedaan dat hij wegviel en ook zoals hij wegviel. From our homebase in Belgium we've witnessed 25 years of restocking local canals and river systems mainly with C3 mirror carp, resulting in some mega stocked places today.
