Belgium's Real Thing at 35,2 kilos through our lens

“Gio, Gio, can you hold my rod, the fish is stuck somewhere and I need my boat.” Stumbling upon @carpfishing_eart_deborah in a nearby swim after fucking my tyre resulted in a very hectic encounter. Moments later Eart ended his 1,5 year quest, catching Belgium’s iconic The Real Thing at 35,2 kilos. Seeing it in IRL was just crazy, this fish is over 50 years old and still mint. The Real Thing came on one of our Red Ester pops up (incorporating an old school flavour blend from Belgian OG bait guru Luc Pluckers) over a handful of CC Moore Pro-Stim Liver and had not been out in 17 months.
