Last weekend Glenn Geldof, one of our readers, messaged us regarding an ongoing situation on his local Galgenweel in Antwerp. For a number of years, foreign anglers fished there illegally for food, a situation we even had on local television a couple of years ago when Gio was still the spokesman for the Belgian carp society VBK vzw. Now, since a year two, the venue sees a new problem added to that. Now foreign, many of East European origin, are calling themselves 'sports anglers', buy the necessary licenses, etc. but are not treating their captures with respect. No mats, three...

Last Saturday was a good day! Two years ago our friend Karel Diopere took a handful of 2-3 cm MC Syndicate fingerlings and bred them to these beauties today. The two smallest in the pics were hatched from eggs from the famous Heylakker syndicate even. The three biggest we had yesterday went back into the open, the others remained at Karel's for another year to grow just big enough to stock. Lac de Carcès, for a long time one France's best kept secrets - now widely now because of the many vids and series of public monster carp, is serious threatened as we speak.  Water levels are super low as a 'vidange' (lowering of the lake for netting it) is being planned. Locals and the French carp community in general are worried this will lead to disaster as many fish will die in the process, see the example of what happened last week at Lac des Settons, see pics we took from the Facebook page of our French friend Stephane Gentile....
