Whilst we are all about PMA and positivity, news just reached us that Schubbenaas (freely translated as Ace of Commons) is sadly no longer. On the picture it's in the hands of our very good friend Dries Van den Heuvel last year. Its home, a very prolific and low stocked Belgian venue, used to be known for big commons but has been losing more and more of its Last Mohicans over the past few years. Rest in power!

Over the past few days our friend Les Bowers ran an exclusive charity auction for 48hrs on our syndicate lake. We cannot thank all of you for going completely mad for this, very humbled! The winning bid went no less than £1.800 which is simply mindblowing knowing that one single guide dog costs approx. £5.000.  Depending on Covid we might make it ourselves to the Lucy's Bowl event at Wraysbury this Summer, but don't want to promise anything. In any way, we'll support it fully in other ways than just this auction. Together with trustees Dean Lloyd and Keith Sykes...

The other week our friends and readers Jeffrey Benoot and Nick Clauw did a proper youth training weekend at the Kortemark railway pit.  We supported the bunch with a one-off Young Gun t shirt, magazine and sticker pack each.  Big smile on our faces here at the MC HQ to see the kids reppin'! #monkeyclimber #doingitforthekids

We were lucky to catch this proper Belgian beast on the first night of a Nutricia syndicate social. The fish formerly known as The Big Mirror weighed in at a whopping 27,2 kilos and became known since as Machine Head as this was the caption we gave it on one of our pics. Full story in the VBK magazine earlier this year. Caught it thanks to having a fight with my GF at home, thx babe :-)

Monkey Climber is an alternative, indie magazine with a big heart trying to give something back to the angling community and outside world. We get asked a lot for charity and fundraisers and always try to help out whenever we can.  So when a couple of good friends of ours like Dean Lloyd, Keith Sykes, Les Bowers, Tom Coloff, etc asked us as Trustees of Lucy's Bowl (a non profit for Guided Dogs) what we could do we thought it a cool idea to give away 48hrs on our own 4-5 acre syndicate over here in Belgium.
